IBM | AI Harness Engineering Intern, now Intern PM
Mainframes still run about 85% of the world’s financial transactions, most of it COBOL and PL/1. watsonx Code Assistant for Z is IBM’s agentic code assistant for modernizing that code.
What I Built
I helped build the prototype of the agentic system that became the product’s main form factor: an early Roo Code fork with 10+ tools and 5+ subagents, plus a demo of parallel execution over A2A. I benchmarked 7+ models on explaining COBOL, and the results moved the product to stronger open-source models. I also shipped a production MCP tool that explains COBOL variables.
